Deck Board Gapping for TigerClaw Hidden Fasteners

One of the most common questions that we receive is about the gap size that is created by the TigerClaw Hidden Fastening System. While the gap produced is marked clearly on our product pages, we thought it would be beneficial to list the gapping of all TigerClaw fasteners in one place for easy reference.

Product Gapping Contraction & Expansion Notes
TC-3S for Composites

3/16" TC-3S automatically creates a gap between each decking board slightly greater than 3/16”. With the use of spacers or shims, TC-3S can support gapping up to 5/16”. TC-3S is designed to allow the decking to expand and contract naturally by sliding on the fastener prongs and still maintain hold-down strength. From the point of installation, the TC-3S Fastener can handle expansion up to 1/8” and contraction up to 3/16″
TC-G for 1" Grooved 3/16" TC-G will automatically create a 3/16” space between each board. The TC-G allows the decking to expand and contract naturally by sliding on the fastener tab and still maintain hold-down strength. The TC-G is also designed to maintain consistent spacing as deck boards expand and contract.
