What's the difference between Ultra-Flex and the original cable railing kits by Ultra-tec?

Ultra-Flex is a simplified system that does not include hardware or cable reels. It is recommended to be the preferred cable infill option for Trex and Azek railings. It is also a great option for interior or indoor projects because it doesn’t require a welder for installation. It is ultimately a more flexible system that can adjust to various railing/deck lengths and angles. Original Ultra-tec Cable Kits include fittings for both ends of the run, washers, fasteners, cable and installation instructions. Although these kits include all components needed, it can be difficult for some individuals to figure out exactly which kit to purchase their project. The Ultra-tec cable kits are best for individuals who know the exact measurements and angles that will be involved in their project. The Ultra-Flex option eliminates the hassle of ordering the wrong kit by offering a more flexible and easy to install cable railing option.

How do I order Ultra-Flex Cable Infill?

  1. Determine if you are using wood, sleeved or metal posts. This will allow you to choose the correct tensioners for your project.
  2. Purchase tensioners and non-tensioners. They are fittings that will drill into posts to hold/tension cable. One tensioner and one non-tensioner is needed for each horizontal or stair run. If your cable run is greater than 50' or has more than two 90 degree turns, then purchase two tensioners for each run instead.
  3. Buy a 100’ or 500' roll of ⅛” or 3/16” cable infill.

How many tensioners do I need?

At least one tensioner is needed per run of cable and two tensioners are required for longer runs. So, most cable runs will require a tensioner on one end and a non-tensioner on the other end. However, if the cable run is greater than 50' or it has more than two 90 degree turns, it's recommended that two tensioners on each end are used.

Does Ultra-Flex Railing have a warranty?

Yes, it comes with a 10-year warranty.
