UnderDeck vs. Competitors
Learn How UnderDeck Compares to Competitors
UnderDeck is the original "under the deck" system. Below are some things to consider when comparing UnderDeck to other systems.
Works with New and Existing Decks
- UnderDeck can be installed before or after deck construction is complete. Most other systems require the system be installed before the deck
boards are placed and fastened to the deck.
- UnderDeck can be custom cut around clothes dryer and other vents on the ledger board. Most other systems cover up these vents and prevent access
to the vents when they need to be cleaned.
- UnderDeck can be installed between 4 and 24 inch joist cavities. Many systems are restricted to a maximum 16 inch joist spacing and other
systems require joist shim boards if your joist spacing is greater than exactly 16 inches. UnderDeck collector panels are easily cut to size for a tight, professional fit for all joist cavity sizes.
- You do not need to add fascia boards to the outside of the deck to cover up the visible pitch of the system.
UnderDeck will not Deteriorate Your Deck Lumber
- UnderDeck is made of exterior grade PVC, not lumber deteriorating aluminum. As lumber professionals know, placing aluminum or any other non-stainless metal
against lumber will eventually rot and/or deteriorate the lumber. UnderDeck will not fade, mold or rust and it will not deteriorate your lumber, ever.
- With its innovative UnderDeck Joist Rail design, water will never sit or pool. Your deck is safe with UnderDeck.
It's Easy to Maintain Your Deck with UnderDeck
- UnderDeck is 100% removable and access to the joist cavity can be achieved in 30 seconds or less. This is especially important if you need to clean out an unwanted nest or need to perform deck maintenance. Almost all other systems on the market are not truly removable. Many claim that they are, but when you dig into the details, you find that you are literally
uninstalling the system and then reinstalling it to put it back up.
- UnderDeck is color fast through the entire material. You can safely stain your deck without having to remove the system.
Maximize Your "Under the Deck" Space
- The UnderDeck Collector Panel arches up into the joist cavity to maximize your head room. Many other systems take up 12-18 inches of space below the bottom
of your deck joists.
No Professional Installation Required - You Can do the Install
- You do not need to be a "certified installer" to install UnderDeck. Many other systems must be installed by an installer that is certified to install their product. With UnderDeck you're not paying extra labor and your installer's franchise fee as part of your installation.
- UnderDeck was developed with the homeowner and contractor in mind. It is easy enough to be installed by a homeowner and tough enough to be appreciated by contractors.
- If you decide to hang a seamless gutter, a simple single gutter is only required at the rim joist that is parallel to your ledger board (the ledger board is the board attached to your house that your deck
attaches to). Many other systems require a complicated seamless gutter system for the entire perimeter of the system.
