How to Estimate Number of Tiger Claw Fasteners
Estimating Number of Fasteners
A fastener is needed at the intersection of every deck board and joist. To determine the quantity needed, we highly recommend that you use our
Tiger Claw Estimator.
Rough Estimating
The exact number of fasteners needed for each deck varies by the number of deck boards, deck joists and board width. Having the total square feet of the deck is not enough to provide a specific estimate as the direction of the deck joists can alter the estimate greatly. However, we realize that sometimes you only
have the total square footage of decking and need to come up with a rough estimate as to the number of fasteners needed. To do so, you can use the formulas below.
As noted above, if possible, we highly recommend that you use our Tiger Claw Estimator
Joists 12" On-Center and 6" Deck Boards
- [Total Square Feet] x 2.22 = [Number of Fasteners]
- [Number of Fasteners] / 90 = [Number of Boxes]
Joists 16" On-Center and 6" Deck Boards
- [Total Square Feet] x 1.75 = [Number of Fasteners]
- [Number of Fasteners] / 90 = [Number of Boxes]
Joists 24" On-Center and 6" Deck Boards
- [Total Square Feet] x 1.23 = [Number of Fasteners]
- [Number of Fasteners] / 90 = [Number of Boxes]
