Product Compatibility

Recommended for use in softwood decking measuring 1” or thicker lumber. Softwood decking will inherently experience shrinkage. When using decking material prone to high shrinkage, decking should be installed tightly together allowing shrinkage to provide gap over time. Shrinkage of decking board width must be limited to a maximum of 1/4". Ask your lumber provider for information on expected expansion and/or contraction of material for your particular climate.

Tiger Claw TC-2S works in the following deck lumber varieties:

  • Atlantic White Cedar
  • Cedar
  • Coast Fir
  • Douglas Fir
  • Eastern Spruce
  • Eastern White Cedar
  • Pressure Treated Lumber
  • Southern Yellow Pine
  • Western Red Cedar
  • Western Redwood
  • Yellow Cedar

Consult your lumber professional before using the Tiger Claw TC-2S in the following uncommon wood:

  • Cypress (soft)

What is the Difference Between the TC-1S and the TC-2S?

The Tiger Claw TC-1S and Tiger Claw TC-2S are both designed for softwood decking. From a design perspective, they are identical fasteners.

The difference between the two is the material they are made from. The TC-1S is made from heavy gauge steel (magnetic) with a Magni 599© black sealer topcoat. The TC-2S is made from annealed stainless steel with a black oxide sealer topcoast. Because of the TC-2S is made from stainless steel it is guaranteed to never rust, while the TC-1S is not.

Product Requirements

When using Tiger Claw fasteners please review and comply with these requirements to obtain proper installation. Failure to follow these requirements may result in deck failure and/or void of warranty.

Inspect decking material prior to installation. Omit any planks that contain hooks, twists, splits, cracks, or other defects. Always install decking with the crown upward.
